The Air Jordan 3 will once again be part of Nike’s annual Doernbecher Freestyle Collection which will be releasing during the 2023 holiday season. Designed by 14-year old Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina who suffers from Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, which causes one side of his body to grow larger than the other, this Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher draws inspiration from the Seattle Seahawks’ team colors of navy blue and slime green. The sneaker gets covered in Navy leather all over the upper with slime green paint dripping down the eyestays, ankles, and covering the entire tongues. Hugo’s passion for gold chains is included by way of a unique gold-plated hangtag, which can also be worn as a pendant on a necklace while the inner tongue of the shoe features woven patches, with one side listing his heroes, his mom and dad, and the other intentionally remains blank, allowing the wearer to fill in their own heroes.
Hugo’s personal handwritten motto, “It’s OK to be different,” is written on the green translucents outsoles while the transparent heel tab unveils Hugo’s logo, with the Jumpman positioned above his nickname, “Juice.” As a finishing touch we see special laces with glow-in-the-dark flecks.
The Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher XIX is currently expected to release on December 2nd for a price tag of $210. Make sure you keep it locked to Kicks On Fire for updates.
